The Aisha Jeewa Alladin Memorial Educational Fund has been created in the memory of
the late Aisha Bibi Jeewa Alladin. Aisha was born in Mauritius in 1955 and passed away on October 10, 2020. She is remembered as an activist, social
worker, and an advocate for community development. Aisha was raised in Port Louis and attended Queen Elizabeth College. After completing her studies in Mauritius, she moved to England and graduated as a nurse. She earned her degree in Sociology and Social Work from the University of East London then moved to Canada where she completed her Master’s degree in Community Education from the University of Alberta. Her strong academic foundation translated into a successful career where she retired as a public health manager in 2018. Aisha volunteered her time and was a champion for women’s rights and educational equality for minorities. She received several awards in England, Australia, and Canada for her community and social work. With the purpose of continuing her commitment to women’s rights and access to education, the Alladin family has created an educational fund in Mauritius.
